Why text instead of video?

Text is faster to read than video is to watch, infinitely searchable, trivial to update, and works on any connection speed. Video courses are easy to start and hard to finish — written lessons are the opposite.

Is it really free?

Yes, and always will be. Every course on this platform is free to read. No paywalls, no subscriptions, no upsells. The platform itself is MIT-licensed open source.

Do I need an account to read?

No account needed to read any course. Creating an account lets you track your progress across lessons and contributes to a public profile if you write courses.

What subjects can be published here?

Any subject that can be taught through structured text. Programming, writing, photography, finance, music, law, history, science — there are no restrictions. The only requirement is that the content is original, accurate, and well-structured.

How do I contribute a course?

Read the Contributing Guide, fork the repository on GitHub, create a course JSON file and your lesson MDX files, then open a pull request. The maintainers will review and merge it. No prior open-source experience required.
